Hey Void Fam,
We just dropped something really close to our hearts: the origin story of Kung, our little hero from Kung Fu Kittens.
This short film doesn’t have dialogue — it’s told completely through visuals and music — but it says everything you need to know about why this little kitten fights.
🐱 The Story
-
Baby Kung walks down a dark alley beside his mother, both dressed in humble kung fu robes.
-
A vicious white street dog appears, eyes hungry. His mom knows instantly: this dog isn’t here to play.
-
She hides Kung inside an abandoned camper van, keeping him safe, before facing the dog head-on.
-
The fight is brutal — teeth sink in, fur flies — but she rallies, breaking free and delivering a powerful mid-air kick that sends the dog fleeing.
-
Just when it looks like she’s won, a net drops from above. Animal control. She’s captured and thrown into their van, while Kung watches helplessly from the camper window.
-
Morning light comes. A human hand gently lifts baby Kung, rescuing him. Soon he’s in a warm home, staring out the window.
-
Outside, a white van drives by. Kung’s eyes narrow. The final text reads: “I’ll find you, Mom.”
🎨 How We Made It
This entire short was created in just a few days using Flux + Hailuo’s MiniMax AI image-to-video tools. No dialogue. No motion capture. Just pure AI filmmaking stitched together like a memory.
We wanted it to feel hazy, almost like a flashback sequence — because in the actual Kung Fu Kittens screenplay, this all takes place before the main story begins.
🥋 Why It Matters
This sequence shows us two key things about Kung:
-
His Mother’s Legacy — She wasn’t just protective, she was a fighter. The bloodline of kung fu flows through her, and through the little kittne, Kung.
-
His Core Motivation — Kung isn’t just a silly housecat sneaking around adventures. Deep down, he’s on a mission. He hasn’t forgotten his mother, and one day, he’ll go on a quest to find her.
It’s bittersweet, but it makes every funny or action-packed moment in Kung Fu Kittens carry a little more weight.
💡 What’s Next
When we write the full screenplay, this origin story may return as a flashback sequence. Or maybe Kung will tell it to Fu during one of their adventures. Either way, it sets the emotional foundation for why Kung is more than just a kitten with skills — he’s a kitten with purpose.
Thanks for watching this one with us. Sometimes the smallest stories carry the biggest hearts.
